2017 Acura NSX

As J & J Auto Wrecking continued to grow in recent years, the purchase of this 2017 Acura NSX was our first leap into true super car territory.  It happened to be purchased on the day before Thanksgiving in which we had planned a full team Thanksgiving dinner and the buzz around the dining table was all NSX.  We still have many parts available for this car, considering there are only about 3000 produced, they do take a little longer for customers to need parts.  You can check out parts available from it here.

The 2017 Acura NSX, officially known as the second-generation NSX, represented a significant leap forward in technology and design from the original model, which had been out of production since 2005. The NSX, short for "New Sports eXperience," is a flagship supercar developed by Honda and sold under its luxury brand, Acura, in North America.

While the first-generation NSX (1990-2005) was a rear-wheel-drive vehicle powered by a naturally aspirated V6 engine, the second generation took a dramatic turn towards hybrid technology. The development process took nearly a decade, with the 2017 NSX finally going on sale in 2016.

Powertrain and Performance The 2017 Acura NSX featured a complex and high-performance hybrid powertrain. It was equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine and three electric motors. Two of the electric motors powered the front wheels independently, giving the car its all-wheel-drive capability, while the third electric motor was integrated with the 9-speed dual-clutch transmission. The combined output was 573 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque.

Design and Features In terms of design, the 2017 NSX was a dramatic reinterpretation of the original, with a sleek and aerodynamic look that was both modern and distinctly Acura. Inside, the vehicle provided a high-quality, driver-focused cockpit filled with luxurious materials and advanced technology, including an ELS Studio Premium Audio system, a TFT display that served as the instrument cluster, and a center console featuring the Integrated Dynamics System controls.

Production The 2017 Acura NSX was produced in the United States, at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio. This marked a change from the first generation, which was manufactured in Japan.

Reception Upon its release, the 2017 NSX was met with mostly positive reviews. Critics praised its advanced hybrid powertrain, its comfortable and luxurious interior, and its unique blend of daily-driving comfort and track-ready performance. However, some purists felt it strayed too far from the simplicity of the original NSX.

In summary, the 2017 Acura NSX represented a bold step into the future for Acura, melding advanced hybrid technology with supercar performance in a stylish and luxurious package. It was a worthy successor to the original NSX and a sign of the direction in which the auto industry was heading.
